Pacific University School of Optometry partners with Paragon Vision Sciences to create first performance tinted contact lenses. Research on the performance benefits of the lenses ensues.
Nike brings the lenses to market under the brand name MaxSight in partnership with Bausch + Lomb. Lenses discontinued after two years owing to business issues unrelated to MaxSight or its market performance. MaxSight had proven performance receptivity and commercial success in a short time.
Performance Vision Technologies, Inc. (PVTI) is formed and creates a development agreement with specialty lens manufacturer Vizion Focus, Inc. ALTIUS Performance-Tinted Contact Lenses are developed and manufactured under strict regulatory guidelines. ALTIUS product is ready for market and PVTI receives FDA approval to distribute the lenses in the United States.
Though COVID-19 pandemic conditions slowed the release of ALTIUS in the market, the product is now gaining a following in performance vision/sports vision and in neuro rehabilitation.
